Text Box: Hilltop Stables is a newly converted cottage in the attractive village of Whissendine set in the rolling countryside of Rutland. England’s smallest county is relatively undiscovered but its motto ‘Multum in Parvo’ - ‘Much in Little’ sums up the attraction of this lovely area.

The stables are ideally placed to explore the region with its stone built market towns and quintessentially English villages. Historic Oakham, Uppingham and Stamford are all nearby and Melton Mowbray - famous for its pork pies and Stilton is just over the border in Leicestershire. Rutland Water attracts visitors from all over the world for its bird-watching, cycling, sailing and trout-fishing. The stately homes of Burghley, Belvoir and Rockingham Castles and Belton House are all just a short drive away.

Whissendine itself boasts two pubs, a coffee shop with bistro and a windmill producing its own flour.

Hilltop Stables is furnished to a high standard and offers comfortable and relaxing self-catering accommodation in the garden, which was once the farmyard, of this former farm. Whatever time of year you visit you will find a welcoming holiday home with all the comforts you need.
